I love the beginning of a new year - it is a great time to reflect on the previous year and look ahead to the future. I know there are differing opinions on New Year's resolutions - why set resolutions you don't intend to keep; goals that are not attainable; why not set goals for yourself throughout the year, etc, etc. I agree these are all good points and I certainly don't wait for a new year to start to set goals, however I love any opportunity to evaluate where I am at in my life.
So, what are some of my goals - they are similar to goals I have every year and try to live to. They relate to the overall balance between Mind, Body and Soul. This is just a sampling of what I continue to try and achieve in my life.
- BODY: Enjoy good health - personally and contribute to overall good health for my family. More specifically, I will continue what I have started over the past two months to make better food choices and expand physical activity. I plan to be at my goal weight no later than June 2007.
- MIND: Continue expanding knowledge - personally and contribute to knowledge growth for my family. I love to research topics of interest and will continue to do this in the coming year.
- SOUL: explore my spirituality more actively - get involved in the local church - volunteer. Nourish relationships both within my home and outside - continue to spend time with friends and family. Spend more time in nature.
The New Year started well - Dan & I went for a drive heading first to Petrie Island where we went for a nice walk and then to Gatineau Park. When we got home, I took a brisk 90 minute walk which certainly got my heart pumping :). I cooked a nice meal of Tuscany Chicken and Whole Wheat Pasta with veggies and Green Salad. For the vegetarian in my house, I made a Rice Nut Loaf. I am watching Super Size Me on TV as I work in my office - generally not information I am not aware of but some of the information certainly is an eye opener and good reminder.
Wishing you all the best for a Happy New Year where all your hopes and dreams transpire.
